If you happen to be searching for a job on Craigslist, I would advise extreme caution regarding the legitimacy of any posting. Here is a typical scenario. You browse Craigslist for jobs in your area finding an interesting listing like the following:

Full and part time positions as a Medical Receptionist are now available. Will be responsible for checking patient appointments, answering phones, scheduling appointments, and filing medical records.
- Basic computer skills with Microsoft Office required
- Entry to mid-level experience in the field a must
You reply to the listed Gmail account. After sending your email, you get an instant reply back, something like this:

Our site has historically been a forum, but due to an unfortunate ratio of advertising to discussion, I've decide to close down posting for the time being and treat the site like a blog, although still focused on our work at home theme.
When I started this site years ago I was working a 9 to 6 type job, with the dream of working from home and working for myself. And after much hard work, I'm fortunate to have been able to be in the position of working for myself for the last year. I've never worked harder now that I work for myself, but it is great! I set my own priorities, and work at my own pace. I highly recommend it, although have some patience because it may take a few years to be able to be able to tell your boss, "Goodbye." |

7- Be Happy. Everyone loves a cheerful face. If you are feeling down, take some time out. Stop. You can’t be your best when you are feeling that way. Listen to some uplifting music. Call a friend or a family member. Eat some chocolate. (not too much) |

I'm trying to get a handle on this internet marketing stuff and so far I've found that most people/sites are promoting one of 2 things:
affiliate marketing
selling information
I've tried affiliate marketing but I just don't seem to be able to get either the traffic or people who are interested in the product.
I thought I might offer a "How To . . ." book but do those sort of books really sell?? I mean, if you want to learn how to do something there seems to be oodles of free tutorials and how to sites all over the internet.
What would make a person chose the 'purchase an e-book' road??
Your thoughts would be helpful. |
